Billing configuration
Control when billing cycles start and when charges are applied.
Billing configuration sets the rules behind how a student's fees turn into installments — when each billing cycle begins and when charges are applied. It is set once and affects how schedules are generated from then on.
Who this is for
Administrators — only administrators can change billing configuration.
Settings
Go to Settings → Finance and open the Billing tab to set the options below.
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Billing cycle anchor | The day installments fall on. 1st of each month, Student enrollment date (that day every month), or a custom day from 1 to 28. |
| Custom anchor day | Used only when the anchor is a custom day. |
| Charge timing | In advance charges at the start of the period. In arrears charges at the end, and skips a period whose anchor already passed before the student joined. |
Adjust the settings, then click Save.
Set this before generating fees
Billing configuration shapes how installments are generated. Set it before creating payment plans and enrolling students so every schedule follows the same rules.
How a due date is chosen
The anchor is the due day, including for the month the student joins.
With 1st of each month and in advance, a student who enrolls on 3 October is not billed for September. October is due on 1 October, and that row is already overdue. November through the end of the year are also due on the 1st.
In arrears with the same anchor skips October. The first due date is 1 November.
A plan change uses these same rules, but the new schedule starts from today. Unpaid rows of the old plan, including overdue ones, are removed. The worked examples are in Installments and schedules.
