Announcements
Write, target, and publish school announcements to the right people.
An announcement is a one-way message you broadcast to a chosen group — news, reminders, or notices. People in the audience read it; they don't reply (for two-way conversations, use Chat and messaging).
Who this is for
Administrators and teachers who share news with students and families.
Before you start
- Decide who should receive the announcement. You can pick an existing audience or build one as you go.
Create an announcement
Open Announcements
Go to Communication → Announcements, then choose Add announcement.
Write the announcement
Complete the fields below.
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Yes | A short headline. |
| Content | Yes | The body of the announcement. You can format it — headings, bold, lists, and links. |
| Audience | Yes | Who receives it. Pick at least one audience. |
| Attachments | No | Files to share alongside the message. |
| Thumbnail | No | A cover image shown with the announcement. |
Save as draft or publish
- Save as draft to keep working on it — only staff can see drafts.
- Publish to send it. The announcement becomes visible to its audience, and the people in that audience are notified according to their own notification settings.
Publishing is immediate
An announcement goes live the moment you publish it — there's no scheduled or timed release. If you need it to appear later, publish it at that time.
Edit, unpublish, or delete
- Edit — open an announcement to change its title, content, audience, or attachments.
- Unpublish — hide a published announcement again (for example if it was sent by mistake). It returns to draft and is no longer visible to the audience.
- Delete — remove an announcement entirely.
Who sees an announcement
Only the people in the announcement's audience see it, on web and mobile. Choose the audience carefully — for example all parents, Year 5 students, or a few specific people. See Audiences.
Common use cases
- School-wide notice — publish to an audience that includes everyone.
- Class reminder — a teacher publishes to the parents of one class.
- Draft now, publish later — prepare the announcement as a draft and publish it when the time is right.
