Teacher Assignments

Set which subjects each teacher can teach, then assign teachers to each class and subject for the term.

Teacher Assignments is where you say who teaches what. First you set subject eligibility (which teachers may teach each subject at a level). Then you assign a teacher to each class–subject for the term. The timetable generator schedules those assignments.

Administrators preparing teaching assignments before building the timetable.

Open Teacher Assignments

Go to Academic → Teacher Assignments. Work in the academic year selected in the year switcher.

The page has two tabs:

TabWhat it does
Subject EligibilityFor one level, mark which teachers are eligible for each subject.
Class AssignmentsFor one term, assign a teacher to each class–subject.

Subject Eligibility

Use this tab to build a whitelist per level: teachers down the side, subjects across the top. Toggle a cell to mark a teacher eligible for that subject.

Choose the level

Pick the level at the top of the tab.

Toggle eligibility

Click cells to include or exclude teachers for each subject. Optionally show or hide full subject names.

Save changes

Click Save changes. Edits stay local until you save — switching level or leaving the page warns you if anything is unsaved.

Eligibility shapes the teacher picker on Class Assignments (eligible teachers are listed first). Teachers who are not marked eligible can still be chosen under Other teachers — eligibility does not hard-block an assignment.

Class Assignments

Switch to Class Assignments. Pick the term (defaults to the active term). Coverage shows how many class–subject cells are filled and how many are still unassigned.

Assign a teacher

Open a cell

Click an empty cell (Unassigned) or an existing assignment.

Pick the teacher

Search and choose a teacher. Use Unassigned to clear the cell.

The assignment saves immediately — there is no separate Save on this tab. There are no extra fields (hours, dates, or notes) on the assignment itself.

Teachers load rail

Open the Teachers panel on the right to see each teacher's load for the term (assigned periods vs capacity). Bars turn amber when load is high and red when over capacity. This rail is for review only — you don't edit capacity here.

Tips and best practices

  • Set Subject Eligibility first so the Class Assignments picker is easier to use.
  • Clear every Unassigned cell before generating a timetable — missing assignments are a common blocker. See Generate and activate.
  • Use the load rail to spot overloaded teachers before you generate.
