Build a form
Design the form's sections and fields in the drag-and-drop builder.
The builder is where you design what applicants see. You drag fields onto a canvas, arrange them into sections, and set each field's behaviour.
The builder layout
| Area | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Left sidebar | The field components you can drag onto the form. |
| Canvas | The form itself — sections, each holding rows and columns of fields. |
| Right panel | The properties of the field you select, or the Admission Fields panel. |
| Header | Undo / redo, preview, settings, and save. |
Add and arrange fields
Drag fields onto the canvas
Drag a field component from the left sidebar onto a section. Drop it on a section header to start a new row, or next to an existing field to share its row.
Set field properties
Select a field to open the properties panel on the right. There you set the label, mark it required, add validation, define options for choice fields, and control its visibility.
Organise into sections
Group related fields into sections and reorder rows and sections by dragging. A section can be made repeatable so applicants add more than one entry — for example several children on one application.
Admission fields
Admission forms come with Student and Guardian sections already built in. To add more recognised fields, open the Admission Fields panel from the right.
It has two tabs — Student and Guardian — each listing:
- System fields — recognised fields such as date of birth or address. Adding them lets a submission be matched to a real person.
- Custom fields — extra fields your school defined. See Custom fields.
Drag a field from the panel into the matching section, or use its + button. A field that is already on the form is marked Added.
Why system fields matter
System fields carry a hidden mapping (for example student.firstName). That
mapping is what lets the platform turn an accepted submission into a student
record without re-typing anything.
Preview and settings
- Preview — switch the header to preview to see the form as an applicant would, at desktop, tablet, or mobile width.
- Settings — open the settings dialog to set the presentation mode (a single page or a step-by-step wizard), the languages, the theme, the branding (introduction and thank-you messages, logo, terms and privacy policy), and the form's schedule.
Save your work
The header shows an Unsaved changes marker while you edit. Use Save to keep your changes. Undo and redo are available, along with keyboard shortcuts — copy, paste, and duplicate a selected field.
Saving is not publishing
Saving keeps your design. The form stays a draft and is not yet open to applicants — see Publish and share a form.
